Volvo V50 additive tank replacement
An Urgent Engine fault notice came up when I last intended to drive my car. A mechanic has diagnosed that the additive fuel tank is cracked and empty so has to be replaced so that the DPF can regenerate.
Cost of a replacement from Volvo is almost £800 plus fitting!
The car is 2008 but has only done about 84000 miles.
I don't know what to do for the best.
A diesel is unsuitable for the limited amount of driving I do now but I occasionally do long journeys and also need the space for big loads sometimes.
I can't sell the car as it is now.
1. Repair and keep (rather than buying an unknown old car)?
2. Repair then sell?
3. Trade-in?
4. Scrap?
I also have a little runabout for local use. It's OK but I don't love it like I do the V50 which I've had for about eleven years.
I'd value any experience or suggestions. Thank you

Thanks. The chap I use is a mobile mechanic who has looked after the car for a couple of years but he's snowed under with work at the moment.I may have to try a local garage.0
