Mine and wife cars both got Serviced and MOT at a local garage and a few weeks later the amber EML came on on both cars round about the same time. Could the garage have made a mistake with the oil or something like that. Thanks.

  • The only way to know what an EML light is telling you is to plug in a diagnostics device and read the faults codes.

Given that both cars have it, might work out cheaper to buy your own diagnostic reader than send two cars in for the garage to diagnose.
  • That warning light can mean a variety of things and quite possibly nothing to do with what they've just carried out.

If you're happy with the car get that diagnostic done soon and sort it because leaving it could just create an even dearer job 6 months or more, if you're not sell it quick - those were the words told to me a few weeks ago !
As someone who's ignored those EML messages i can vouch for big bill for fixing it !

Almost certainly nothing to do with any MOT work done.

Theres easily 1,000 different reasons why that EML has come on, and it could throw on that light at any time or many times during its lifetime.

Likely something simple, but if you're not in to self diagnosing the problem and resolving it yourself, it would be best to get it booked in.
