Key Scratch - Advice please?
Hello MSE, I have a Mercedes A180 and it was recently scratched. I sent a few photos to body shop repair specialists and they've quoted prices from £190 - £650. Unfortunately, I don't have much knowledge in scratch removals so was hoping for some advice please. Maybe I can do it myself? I'm not sure. The scratch itself is…

Dart charge
I have £3.85 in my account and I only use the Dartford crossing once every 5 years I don't really want to top up £10 for the sake of 15p so I plan on closing the account which will take a week or so. In the mean time Can I still pay at a payzone point while I still have an online account? I don't know the conflicts…

Good evening all. I will try to keep this brief. Basically car in front of me broke hard causing me to bump into the back of her. No damage to my car at all not even a scratch, her car tiny dent, we decided to try to sort it out without involving insurance as the dent really wasn’t that bad and no damage to mine. She took…

Checking car insurance quotes
I’m looking at buying a Car and there are 3/4 that I’m going to view that are potential purchases. If I get an insurance quote on each of them, will it affect my prices and affect my prices because I’m fetching 3/4 quotations?? I don’t want to get loads of quotes if it affects my price negatively. Paying for eBay car purchase
Have bought a £6k car on eBay. Seller wants a deposit via PayPal & the rest via BACS before I collect. I haven’t been to see the car in person yet (lots of pictures & lengthy convos about quality) as it’s 200 miles away. I’m worried about making the BACS payment as there will be no comeback right?

Ambulance Chasing Calls
Recently involved in a non-fault accident, my car is booked in for a repair. I'm used to the speculative "have you been involved in an accident that wasn't your fault" calls, but this is something new. Got a call from 07858 826 406 calling from a generic company name asking why "I hadn't made a claim" for some third…

Uninsured car question
Hi all My first post here so sorry for any unintentional etiquette breaches.. (Have searched but not found an answer in a good few years to my scenario) Friend of mine has recently had her car written off. In the interim, she was going to get put on her fathers policy as a named driver. But it turns out due to a missed…

Residential parking dispute
Hi, new to the forum so not sure if this is the correct place to post this. I live in a block of flats and today I found a note on my car from a neighbour, stating that the bay I have parked in belongs to them as they own one of the flats. They have gone on to state that they charge £5 per day for the privilege and that I…

Cars are identical in all other regards. Both main dealer, both roughly the same price. Both 1.5tdci diesels. Advice…

Car 'chugging'
Bound to be a thread already but I don't know the technical term... so the jalopy has suddenly started 'struggling' or 'chugging' and the engine management light is on. (The one that looks like a fat helicopter?). Still goes though. I WILL be calling the mechanics tomorrow but any idea what it is? Worth fixing? Many thanks…

Police or Community Speed Watch?
In our village this evening there was a person standing at the side of the road wearing a yellow fluorescent jacket with a camera on a tripod. Both in front and behind them was a sign saying Speed Enforcement. Would this be someone from our local community speed watch or the police?

Dealer or Private
hanging around here for any length of time shows that buying a second hand car from a dealership isn’t a cast iron guarantee that you’ll get years of trouble free motoring. So, Was wondering what sort of premium would you pay for a manufacturer authorised main dealer car ( BMW, Mercedes, Volvo) over the exact same car from…

help with a broken down car
I bought a car on 17/10/2018 from the same dealer I got my last car from.I was unsure about it as it had 169,000 miles on the clock but was assured by both brothers that own the motor sales plot that the car had only done motorway miles and was good for a lot more. I paid for and was told the warranty I had bought from…

2008 Renault Modus 1.6 automatic jumps out of 4th gear
Posting on behalf of a neighbour, who has a 2008 Renault Modus 1.6 automatic, which jumps out of 4th gear, goes into 3rd, and puts a warning message up. Engine off/on and it's OK again for a while. I don't know Renaults at all, however from some research this could potentially be caused by a faulty solenoid in the 'box.…
