Checking car insurance quotes

I’m looking at buying a Car and there are 3/4 that I’m going to view that are potential purchases.

If I get an insurance quote on each of them, will it affect my prices and affect my prices because I’m fetching 3/4 quotations??
I don’t want to get loads of quotes if it affects my price negatively.
But I am not sure which car I’m buying yet so fetching quotes at least helps me know what to expect..

What would ppl recommend?

Just do it using the privacy mode of your browser. Incognito Mode in Chrome, Private Window/Tab in Firefox.

To play safe, I'd use a false name and a nearby address.

Hastings Direct seem to have form with cancelling insurance for people they think have been gaming the system - trying different occupations, etc. Others might do similarly.

just use a comparison site, it will leave a footprint but only as a soft search so no effect on score or history

Does the incognito mode still allow insurers to pick up the quote if you decide to take it out ? Do they know you’ve had the quote at all ?

I’m just trying to change car reg details, not really any other information

Yes. Incognito mode just stops them recording that you had changed data by blocking tracking. You can still proceed with the final quote as you'd login by then

Honestly though, when I was replacing my old car I rang up and spoke to a person and explained that I was looking at new cars and gave them a couple of examples (including reg plates as they were ex-demo) to get quotes for, no messing around on comparison sites etc to cause issues - that was enough for me (I was mid-policy) and caused no issues. When it got to renewal I just did the quotes as normal on the car I had got.

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

    .
By nearby it needs to be next door. Even the next street can have a completely different result.
