My Car Broke Down and Police Recovery Took It To Compound
Furious with this The car broke down (clutch went) on Thursday evening on a busy 'A' road not far from our house or our local garage The car was not causing any problems to traffic as it was pushed into the side to allow the traffic to flow So as I have breakdown recovery with my insurance, I was about to ring them but…

What cheap second car?
It is looking like from January I will be based at a new office. Unlike my current somewhat urban office, this new office is in a very rural location, about 10 miles each way from my home, mostly all mud-covered single track roads (the type with passing places every 100 metres or so). A few runs to this office in the last…

Speeding - Automonous Cars
Hi, I have been sent an NIP from Kent police for speeding on the M25. I have been recorded doing 68mph while the smart motorway was set to 50mph. I have reviewed the camera images and they show no reason for the reduction in speed. I know ignorance is not an excuse but I was unaware that the gantrys were not just advisory…

swapping front tyres near side to off side
Cheapest place to get my front tyres swapped over, near side to off side and the off side to the near side. Getting wear on inner corner on the near side tyre, have 6mm all over on both wheels so this would extend the life of the tyre. I have had Hunter alignment done twice before and why this happens no one seems to know…

Vauxhall lifetime warranty ☹
If you bought a new Vauxhall between 2010 and 2015 like me you got Vauxhalls lifetime warranty. As I have just been told by Vauxhall the lifetime warranty dosnt cover all the same bits a normal warranty does. To me this in it's self is mis selling. My car is now 4 years old, mokka 4x4. At 3 years old the propshaft bearing…

Motorcycle Written off
My motorcycle was declared a write off in 2015 by MCE insurance. I received the payment from them and subsequently bought the bike back. I have repaired the bike and had it MOT'd in 2016 which it passed. My question is, I have now discovered that someone, either me or my insurance company should have told the DVLA but I…

High excess: pay yourself?
My gf (26) had a crash joining the M4 yesterday. The traffic ahead of her slowed, and she did also. However, the woman behind crashed into her, pushing her into car in front. (She refuses a dashcam.) Her car, (5 year old Prius) is quite badly damaged. A front & rear bumper is needed, tailgate, and also body straightening.…

I have two kids (and a mrs) I get paid mileage allowance of £0.16/mile for my drive to/from. I need a car that is reliable, and big enough to sit 2…

20 mph limits
I've noticed that in some areas these are very well signed with repeater signs all along the road. In these areas my TomTom also shows the limit as 20. In other areas, mainly south London, they just seem to paint 20 on the road and that is it. Is this deliberate entrapment or are the councils just trying it on?

Vauxhall Diesel Pump Reprogramming
I've got a 2002 Diesel Vauxhall Zafira that failed it's MOT because of a leaky diesel pump, which I was quoted as costing £700 to replace (i.e. more than the car's worth). I've found a scrap dealer locally who can supply a second hand pump for £100, but it will need to be reset and reprogrammed for the new vehicle. Most…

Totting up ban with Court date impending.
Hi. First of all, I am full aware it's my own doing and even though the last offence was a genuine error on my part, it is still my own fault The last offence took place on the 12/10/17. The road is a duel lane i.e. 2 lanes going the same direction (and 2 the other) through a town and I assumed wrongly that it was a 40…

PCN from G24... resulted Gladstones Solicitors letter
I have a Parking Charge Notice several months ago from G24. After reading various threads, I ignored the letters. I was then sent a couple of letters from Zenith Collections. Which after reading more threads and forums online, I ignored. I have now received a letter from Gladstones Solicitors on behalf of G24 to draw my…
