Vauxhall Diesel Pump Reprogramming
Options

I've got a 2002 Diesel Vauxhall Zafira that failed it's MOT because of a leaky diesel pump, which I was quoted as costing £700 to replace (i.e. more than the car's worth). I've found a scrap dealer locally who can supply a second hand pump for £100, but it will need to be reset and reprogrammed for the new vehicle. Most local garages say they can't do this, and local vauxhall dealers are charging crazy rates (between £500-800) to reprogram and refit.
I've read somewhere about some software called "OP-COM", suggesting that there may be independent garages who can do this for a decent price. Any information gratefully received.
Thanks, Dave

Hi Dave,
Not sure if this is an option but would be worth looking into. The pump may be repairable so would you be able to remove it (or have someone else remove it) and have it sent away for reconditioning? A number of companies online offer this service. Alternatively, when I needed to source a replacement Ford fuel pump (which is also programmed to the vehicle), I was able to source a reconditioned pump which had been reset before sale (often called a "virgin Fuel Pump"). As soon as you put it in your vehicle, switch on the ignition and leave it for a few minutes - this will register the pump to your car - then switch on. It's important to give it more than enough time to register as if you interrupt the registration (by attempting to start it), you will be back at square 1 and need to reset the pump again.
Hope that helps. I'm sure others will also be along with some advice.
Cheers,

Thanks J, I'll look into that option too

Opcom can do it, but I have a feeling that the pump needs to be divorced from the donor car before it can be married to yours. And you will probably (possibly) need the car pass for both cars before you can do this. Otherwise you can send it off to be programmed - have a look on the vxon forum as they will be able to give some good advice on there.0 -
Reprogram and refit?? What are they refitting?0

Hi arcon5,
It's the diesel pump that they'd be refitting.
thx, Dave0 -
Fair enough... I assumed you'd be fitting the second hand one yourself0
