Tyre wear query
Morning - I would appreciate some advice about my tyre wear. On 30 December last year my car had it's third service and the mileage was 52219. Tyre tread for the two front tyres (Pirelli) was 6mm all round. The back tyres were better at 7mm On 27 July this year I needed some work done and took the car in - mileage now…

Kia Sportage
To identify 4wd versions, Kia add a 'KX' to the model number i.e. a '2' or a 'KX-2', '3' or 'KX-3' whereas the KX equates to AWD (All Wheel Drive - their terminology for 4WD). But, I keep seeing trade adverts saying a '2' or a '3' and stating 4 x 4….. Surely 4 x 4 is not the same as 4WD or as Kia state AWD? Does 4 x 4 mean…

New car and finance
Hi I'm after some advice - I went window shopping about 10 days ago to car craft and ended up walking away with a car and ever since I've felt like i've been had. It's entirely my fault as I've signed agreements but I got a car on finance with a crazy high interest rate. They let me test drive a few and mean while they…

Hello, I really need some advice please! I am a student at the university of York. Since about January 2014 I have received about 5 parking fines from parking in the university's car park, I believe these were unfair as I paid for parking but due to lectures over running I got a ticket. The parking notice's state that I…

Car insurance while Licence is with DVLA
Long story, my licence needed the address updating, we recently moved house and were buying my parents car from them. I've sent my licence away to get updated (couldn't do it online as my passport is invalid) When comparing insurance companies, the small print has said 'we may ask for a copy of your licence' I don't have…

Her car is newer than the number plate so I…

ParkingEye 'Parking Charge Notice'
Yesterday I had a letter from ParkingEye car park management with a couple of photos of my car on it along with instructions on how to pay them the £100 (£60 if I pay before 14/08) that I apparently owe them for overstaying the 2 hour maximum in a local shop carpark. Apologies if this is the wrong forum section but I was…

My dad had a stroke last year but it has only recently been diagnosed as a stroke. It presented as temporary vision loss - the GP gave him migraine medication. So he didn't stop driving apart from for the 2 days when he was affected by the "migraine" Anyway it wasn't until this year when he had a routine eye test that his…

2002 Toyota Verso 1.8 78,000 MILES
As per my previous thread. The dealer has offered to swap for another vehicle. Based upon what he has online ( not everything he has is ) this Toyota stands out as spacious enough. However never owned a Toyota, though aware of the reputation of reliability. Anyone able to expand on this for me? Ever owned or driven one? 12…

New Skoda Fabia
I'll be after a new (probably ex demo or v low mileage) in the next little while. Done some research and think the Skoda Fabia will suit my needs. What I'm wondering about is whether it is worth waiting for the new Fabia, if I get that option and my current car lasts of course. Having looked around online facts seem to be…

BMW diesel mileage
After a few years of fairly boring cars I'm thinking about getting something slightly more interesting to drive. I'm considering a BMW, either a 118d or 318d, probably in the 3 - 5 year old bracket. I'm wondering whether there is a mileage range that I should be wary of as it's in the lead up to an expensive service item?

Car Park Accident Claim
August 2013 I was involved in an accident in a car park with another car. I was reversing straight back out of a parking space to straighten up when another car reversed into the path of mine, at some speed, and collided with me as they were leaving their parking space opposite and to the side of mine. My car was under…

SORN - does this count as off-road?
I'm intending to declare one of my vehicles as SORN. Do you think that this would count as 'off-road': Parked in front of my garage - the garages are in a block at the end of the road. 4 garages on each side - people who have more than one car generally park their second car in front of their garage. There's no access out…
