I have been fortunate enough to have my first car as a gift (my mothers old car), whilst my second car was bought from my savings from my father and as a result their was no need for any loans etc against my car. I currently car pool with a guy who wishes to buy a new car and…

Peugeot 607 Diesel - fuel pump needs replacing - cost?
I have a 53 plate Peugeot 607 2.2HDi which I have been told has a leaking fuel pump (thought it was oil on drive). Looking online a recon pump is about £300 but I am trying to judge the labour costs. Given this is a common failing does anyone know how long it takes and what the costs are likely to be? I'm trying to avoid…

Oyster Ticket Shops Cred/Debit card fee
Oyster Ticket Shops are basically just newsagents that have a licence to sell Oyster topups. My question is, do they have a right to apply a credit/debit card fee? I ask because I tried to pay for a £5 topup at two different shops and was asked to pay a 50p fee for using a card (i.e. 10% which I think is extorinate; far…

Rusty sump now has a hole...
my father in LAw has had a mild oil drip for a few months and never bothered getting it looked at. Today I pointed out that under his car (X reg Punto) there was an oil patch the size of a shoe box. Using Railcards to Buy Tickets on Train
This is a query out of interest: If travelling from a train station with an open ticket office (but not a penalty fare station) on a train which sells tickets to you via a conductor, you can't use your railcard to get a discount if you purchase on the train. You can only get the discount if you buy the ticket at the…

My fault minor accident, other side is threatening and sueing for personal injury
Hi Everyone, Not sure if this is the correct place to post it, so appologies if it is not. My wife was recently in an accident that was her fault - a pedestrian stepped onto a crossing right in front of a taxi and she ran into the back of the cab. Our car (Audi A4) is undamaged at the front, not even any paint scuffs.…

M6 Variable Speed Sign Camera's
Apologies, if this covered elsewhere. Yesterday I was travelling down the M6 just before Birmingham, where they have the overhead variable speed signs. On the back of the signs, was what looked liked speed camera's. You can't see them before hitting them, only looking in your rear-view mirror or across at the North…

Quick question.. Is the 45p increase in fuel allowance to employees optional for employers? Or do they have to pay this as a minimum ammount? If it is optional is there a relief to recieve the rest back. i.e your company pays you 40p instead can you claim back the extra 5p? Thanks x

second hand cars and rac inspection
Hi, My son has bought a second hand car from a dealer that came with an RAC inspection. When we looked at the inspection in more detail we realised it was done 22nd Jan - he bought the car 16th March - after it had failed the MOT the dealer had done, on the brakes which on the MOT failure made the car dangerous to drive.…

Hi lads, It's pretty new, so you might not have heard about it yet, but Peugeot's got a new Twitter channel open where they're answering questions on customer service, car maintainance, that sort of thing. Might save you some cash heading over to the local garage or dealership if you've got a problem with a car they can…

One-Call Car Insurance
In January my wife changed her car insurance to One-Call as it was a every competitive price. They asked for her proof of her no-claims and she duly contacted her old insurance and sent it off. She then receives a letter from One-Call stating that if she does not send her proof her insurance will be void. Again she…
