Does anyone have any opinions/ experiences of motorpoint peterborough.

Tempted to go and look at a car there this week but never been to a car supermarket.

Going to look at a Hyundai 10 plate so it will still have plenty of hyundai warranty left on it.

I am guessing px values are low as well, I have been offered £2800 for my 1.6 scenic expression with full sh and 30000 miles and in excellent condition from a high street garage, prob get a lot less from motorpoint

Thats not a problem to me as long as the car looks ok, and it has the remaining 4 years ish of the hyundai warranty.

Why should it be a problem

ive bought 2 cars from Motorpoint Burnley - a 2005 Renault Modus - non uk car - full uk warranty.... no problems mechanically..... had a glitch with the radio which our local renault dealer sorted out.

Then bought a 2006 ford fusion (ex enterprise car) with 6k on the clock in mint condition... had no problems with the car at all.... still got it.... with nearly 43k on the clock....

would recommend a look at motorpoint... only thing is a mate was looking and he bought a brand new 11 plate for not much more than a 6 month old Hyundai I10 recently... could be worth looking at the hyundai dealers to see what they are offering.

Agree with you there about the i10, a new one makes more sense, as I can get a good deal on a new one,and to be fair they are a bilt like a tardis inside. but I am looking at the i20

    100+ not so careful non-owners ;)

Inspect it well for signs of badly repaired panels (they tend to bodge stuff to get the car on the road again), missing service history is common, etc.

Missing service history? It's one year old with 10000 miles or so on the clock!!!

When you are looking at a year old car, for often the same price as the main dealers are charging for 2 or 3 year old examples, I'm sorry but warranty+age+lower miles trumps any concerns about how it's been looked after IMO.

It was/is the same story with the online places that sell high-mileage fleet cars for £3000. Yes they may have been thrown around, yes the seller might not prepare the cars as well, but next to a car that might be 3 or 4 years older for the same price? All that stuff ceases to apply.

If the car looks pristine (as most of them do) don't worry about it.
  • Went to Peterbrough Motorpoint looking for a astra. Got a average PX value, not the best given it was a MPV and the Astra was a keen price still happy. Be very clear on want you want as, no haggling allowed.

Still very common for it to miss it's first service.

I also doubt that a year old hire car is the same price as a 2-3 year old car at a dealer, even Motorpoint.

So? Get it serviced straight away.

As to the age: well you say that, but Motorpoint have 2011 1.6CRDi i30 Comforts for £9999 with 13000 miles. My local Hyundai dealer (SG Petch) is selling 2009 cars with 21000 miles for the same money.

Are you really saying that the 2009 car is better value, even if the 2011 car is 500 or so miles over the servicing schedule and so needs doing imminently?

    ...and so has no warranty?

I've seen hire cars for sale at prices that are not as far away from straight 1 year old cars as you are suggesting. Not all dealers price things the same.

If you want an ex hire car why not buy it at auction and cut out the middle man?
