My fault minor accident, other side is threatening and sueing for personal injury

Hi Everyone,
Not sure if this is the correct place to post it, so appologies if it is not.
My wife was recently in an accident that was her fault - a pedestrian stepped onto a crossing right in front of a taxi and she ran into the back of the cab. Our car (Audi A4) is undamaged at the front, not even any paint scuffs. Apparently the back of the taxi was buckled a bit. They exchanged insurance details etc... and the guy said he's be in touch.
we've now received a letter from Easi-drive accident management saying:
We are writing concerning the above incident and our clients subsequent claim for uninsured losses, incurred due to your negligent driving.
blah blah blah
You must be aware there are numerous uninsured losses to be recovered from your insurers, for instance the repair charges and personal injury claim. If the afore mentioned remain unsettled, it will result in legal proceedings being instigated and a County Court Judgement being issued to your premises.
Obviously it was my wife's fault, in the sense that she ought to leave enough room to stop suddenly (it was in London) and we've no problem paying our share through the insurance and our excess. What irks me however are the language of the letter and the idea that the guy who was fine at the scene of what was basically a fender bender that did no damage to our car intends to sue for personal injury.
Anyone have any ideas about what we should do? Is there anything, or is it just that it's our fault and we'll have to do whatever is required.
Many thanks
Andrew

Your excess shouldn’t come into it as you aren’t claiming for any damage to your car.
As for the rest, don’t respond, just pass it on to your insurance company.
If you feel there is anything suspect about the claim then put those concerns in writing to your company as well, but don’t be surprised if they just ignore them and pay out anyway.0 -

My sympathies. A daft young girl who seemed like she was drugged, lunged out of a side road and drove into the side of our car, writing it off.
In collusion with her "accident management" company based in swishy offices on Birkenhead river front, she even fabricated a hospital admission that never took place, to bolster the scale of her claim.
It took hours to unpick the lies that she and her accident handlers had weaved. Bogus road diagrams, a falsified witness statement, fabricated injuries, non-existent hospital admission, etc.
We won about 12 months later. I saw her in the street and she shouted: "you cost me a lot of money!".
Good luck. There is a bible for motor insurance claims that might help you. The book is called "Bingham and Berrymans". It's expensive to buy but your local library might carry a copy, if David Cameron hasn't axed your local library.0 -
Thanks for the replies. It's just annoying when people abuse the system like that!
My insurance did send me an e-mail, asking for details. They pointed out in the e-mail 'The policy excess you are responsible for is £350.00.' so it seems like they're expecting me to pay that!
Thanks0 -
that will be standard wording but only applies if you are claiming for damage to your car0

Contrary to the lies from the Cameron corporatist government, it is the "accident management" filth like "Easy-drive" who have caused our premiums to soar.
I agree whole-heartedly. There is a world of difference between paying legitimate compensation to cover loss of earnings, medical costs etc., and these people who think "Oooohhh, I can make something here".
But in answer to the OP's question, Vaio has got it spot on - do not reply to this company, or indeed contact them in any way, pass everything on to your insurers to deal with. That way, they will sort out whatever needs to be sorted, and there can be no comeback on you further on down the line.0 -
OK, thanks for the responses everyone. I will make sure to pass everything to my side and not get drawn into anything with the other crooks!
Thanks for the support!0
