Insurance - 50/50?
Maybe one for the insurance board  but applies to a car insurance claim so... If a claim goes 50/50 and you opt for your car not to be repaired, do you still lose your no claims discount and what needs to be declared in future years?

Csma
Just a note/reminder for civil servants out there. When you join the CSMA (Civil Service Motoring Association) (cost £15 pa I believe) you get free motorist legal cover. If this cover is up to your requirements, you may want to join and either cancel or don't go for legal cover on your insurance policy when renewing. It…

Would you buy a SORN car with no MOT
I'm hoping to sell OH's Eunos Roadster (Mazda MX5 import) but it has been sitting on my drive, undriven, since April. OH now works abroad and no longer needs it. The tax is due today but as I am looking to sell it, there doesn't seem much point in taxing it so am planning on delaring it SORN. However, the MOT is also due…

Which bike rack for car?
We're off to Centre Parcs in a month or so and would like to take our bikes (2x Adult) with us. I have an 02 Corsa so believe that any rear mounting bike rack would require a lighting board as the bikes would cover the tail lights, is this correct? The car doesn't have a utility socket at the rear so I guess that would…

Getting a van (Iveco) cut. Is it really this impossible?
Hi all My friend has an Iveco Van. The Key is a bit bent. He wants a new one cutting before this one breaks so he phoned Timpson who say "We only cut them with the transponder and it's pricey. Another key cutting company told him it's hard to get hold of the blanks and Ford will charge you "an arm and a leg". Surely there…

Car Tax, crazy cost!!
I am about to tax a car I have just bought. And seen the cost to tax it, £112.75 for 6 months!!!! Unbelievable!! We are just able to afford this (for now anyway) but what about really low income families, this is outrageous!! There are cars you can get out there that only cost £20 per year and the like, but I cannot afford…

6 month car hire?
Hi all. I'm starting a new job in October and the company car option/perk will not 'kick' in until after i've worked 6 months. Therefore, the option available to me is to use the company car allowance, £500 per month (£~400 (?) after tax) and hire a car for 6 months. (My current car, doesn't fall into the stipulated…

Failing MOT?
Would a scuff mark on the windscreen be enough for a car to fail it's MOT? This mark is about the size of a 50p piece. I never noticed it until it was pointed out by Autoglass. They said I'll have to replace the windscreen as this was enough to fail an MOT. How true is this? I never did replace the windscreen but as the…
