Does starting a new job affect a potential mortgage
Hi all, apologies if this has been asked before. I’m looking at buying my first property and I’m exploring options in relation to mortgages. My worry is I’m due to start a new job soon and I’ve only had my mortgage in principle offer. I’ve had no employment breaks for several years now though. I was talking to one person…

Mortgage - Increase deposit but same rate
Hi, Basically might be purchasing a house and i'm in a situation were I could put down 30% deposit (£50,250) When I do this Santander rate for a 3 year first time buyer with £1000 cashback is 2.24%. However, when I change this to 20% deposit (£33,500) the rate and deal stays exactly the same. So as far as I can see I would…

Mortgage with NatWest/Halifax - Starting new job
Hey all, Just wanted to ask for advice on our situation. We're getting mixed responses from an L&C broker, who says a mortgage is not possible Can anyone recommend a lender who would accept the new job offer contract now instead of waiting for the first full payslip in several months?

Overcharged Broker's fee on Mortgage?
Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me. In 2006 I took out a mortgage with my wife and we were charged a £3000 broker fee on a £48,000 mortgage. This works out at about 6% of the loan not 1%. Is this correct? Have I been overcharged? If I have, is there anything I can do about this? Any help you can give would be much…

Friend has £9k but is in debt - mortgage?
One of my friends has been gifted £9,000. He owes, apparently, £5000 on credit cards and £7,000 on a loan. He asked me if he and his wife are able to get a mortgage whilst in debt. He said they’ve never missed a payment and have very good credit records. Combined income for both is around £55,000 per year. I thought the…

The Benefits of Staircasing
Hi MSE peeps, So I am now in a position to increase the size of my share from 35% to the full 100%. After running amortisation calculation, retained capital is about the same ~62%(35% + Overpayments to equal monthly payments of 100%) vs ~63%(100%), this prompted the question of whether staircasing provides something other…

Mortgage Interest Checking
I need to check a series of mortgage statements on two accounts (now closed) as I am virtually certain the lender has deliberately overcharged. I am hoping someone here may be aware of an agency providing this service now. There used to be an agency in the UK who for a small fee would check the interest calculations on an…

Gmac-rfc
Thank you for reading. I have been going through my affairs, ahead of the deadline for claiming PPI etc. I realised that in 2005 (ish) I had an interest only, self-cert mortgage with GMAC-RFC. This was subsequently sold to Webb Resolutions who then also sold it on twice (I'm now with someone called Ocelot Resolutions) My…

Location of broker
Does it matter where a mortgage broke is in relation to where you are? So I'm in greater London, but would want to get a mortgage on a place in the west midlands. Should I be looking for a broker in the west midlands, or it doesn't make any difference?

Should I re-mortgage? House improvements needed and self-employed for less than 2yrs
Hi all, I'm not sure how much info is required in order to get some advice so I'll go ahead and mention what I think is important. My partner and I got our first mortgage in Feb 2018, we have a 2 year fixed rate deal at 2.50% (ends 31/01/2020) - currently paying £562 but will increase to 4.74% (£729) on 01/02/2020.…

Why am I paying so much interest with every mortgage payment?!
I took out my £95,500 mortgage in July 2016, 3 years ago. Fixed rate for 5 years, interest rate of 2.69%. My monthly mortgage payments are £334. Every month, for 3 years, about £205 of my £334 each month has gone towards interest, meaning that each month, I only pay off about £130 of my actual mortgage. Why is this still…
