Mortgage Interest Checking

I need to check a series of mortgage statements on two accounts (now closed) as I am virtually certain the lender has deliberately overcharged. I am hoping someone here may be aware of an agency providing this service now. There used to be an agency in the UK who for a small fee would check the interest calculations on an overdraft or mortgage.
Mark Christian was a name mentioned in this article in connection therewith back in 2011 citywire.co.uk/funds-insider/news/is-your-bank-overcharging-you/a534337
Thanking you in anticipation.

If the lender did indeed overcharge you. There's a high possibility that it subsequently came to light. As you wouldn't have been the only borrower impacted. Why have you concluded that you were long after the event?

Thank you for your reply. It was not long after the event. My two Mortgages were taken out by a bridging loan last October. The mortgage statements on each account up to May 2019 showed credit balances of c. £10K each. Have several sets of these statements issued in 2019. When my accountant wrote and asked for a repayment of the surplus in each case, he was sent a NEW Set of statements showing a Nil balance in each case. I have no doubt I was overcharged thats why I am looking for a third party to audit the mortgage accounts. I will also be writing to the Senior Partner of the Firm of Auditors acting for the Lender to bring the matter to his attention.
  • You don’t need an agency to do this for you, it’s easy enough to work out yourself. You must have a reasonable grasp of the maths to have decided that the bank is wrong.
