by way of a poll, if your neighbours wanted to buy your house off you now (next few months) to convert it into one large house; you knew you would be moving anyway in the next couple of years for job/family - would you take the opportunity now and bank the equity, rent for a bit until your move - or would you leave it Also…

My Mortgage Calculator Theory
Is it only me here... (quite probably, yet again) Because i do find that a lot of the time, mortgage calculators seem to exclude much better rates, almost like you can constantly trick them, whilst knowing that a lower figure exists elsewhere- than the 1 theyre churning out for you. yes.... and Another thing, they also…

Surrender value going down? - it gets worse
Can anyone advise? I got an (25 year, with profits) endowment mortgage 11 years ago. In Sept 02 (when I knew I would be selling), I got a surrender value of approx £4,000. I'd paid about £3,800 in premiums, and it had earned bonuses of about £3,000. I was told I couldn't freeze the policy when the house was sold, and…

Good or poor deal?
Do any of you mortgage whizz kids know if this is a good or bad deal? I would like a fixed rate as I prefer to know what I will have to pay out over the next 5 or so years. I'm afraid of more rises in rates. I am at present on a variable rate with a 'big lender'. They have offered me a choice of 3 fixed deals - 2 years,…

Euro mortgage?
I'm trying to find a lender that will lend in Euros with my UK house as security. Don't worry, I'm not completely barmy just thinking laterally. I am well aware of the currency risks. Anyone know of such a lender - all the articles I can find suggest L & C but a Euro product isn't mentioned on their website.

Mortgage Vs Rent
I had a trawl through the site and could find nothing on this one. I currently pay an interest only mortgage of 140K. I have 17 yrs left. I am 48yrs old and its a bit of a struggle on my income. I'm thinking of selling and renting instead. Renting would not save a great deal in cash out but at least I'd not be going red…
