I am currently trying to rent a room out in my house and have put up a few posters around my offices in Kent but had no replies. Does anyone have any ideas of web sites that I could advertise on or any proffessional publications I could advertise in. I dont know where to start!! ???

How about http://www.loot.com
It says it is a free ads paper ( and web site) but when I tried to take it out of the shop I got arrested for shoplifting.

I live in manchester, however certain local newspapers in your area will offer you a 3-4 day running ad, which also goes on theyre internet sites, for a reduced rate over the same number of single ads.
(Plus Youre killing two birds ...)
If you have the money, best advice on renting is:
Picking a well read paper in your area covering all of KENT, (expect topay £120 for your ad) This may sound a lot, but Ive had single ads in papers running week after week (which can miss the right person ) and end up costing me a fortune! The chances of finding a tennant the new way have been massively increased for me
(in fact ive have a 100% success rate using them)
Its far MORE cost effective than loosing money on your empty room to boot!
As for simply using a web site, its free but you may be waiting forever
(someone else might help you here though)
Hope this helps,

As JoeBloggs says,
The loot is also an idea good, but these ads need a magnifying glass
(ps- i dont bother waiting for ads in loot)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Buying Loot is a waste of time. The website is the only useful tool for those searching for something that is likely to be gone very quick. You can pay a £5 per week online or £10 for a month to see the latest adds prior to publication. If what's for sale does'nt go quick then you must ask yourself why ?
For those searching for accomodation and fed up with loot try estate agents. Often they cannot be bothered to advertise what they have in the window as it changes so often.

Yes LOOT is a waste of time... but try
http://www.gumtree.com
I have moved house thrice with the help of the site.
It's brilliant and easy to use and not a penny out of your pocket.
All the best.something missing0 -
When I've been looking for accommodation in the past I always look in the local papers and in shop windows (newsagents etc.) that you can put ads in very cheaply.Torgwen..........

Ask friends and family to spread teh word!
I did what you've done before, and no joy.
made a passing comment to my mum about it.
Week later her best friend, who had just left her husband was moved in, paying me 200 quid a month, and doing all the cleaning in the house for me!0 -
As mountaingirl said gumtree is a good site - lots of Aussies, Kiwis and South Africans.
Two other places I would recommend as you're in Kent (though you don't say if you're near London or not) are:
https://www.moveflat.com and ww.nabs.org.uk. The first is a dedicated move flat website with subsites for all over the UK. The second is a charity for the Marcomms industry which also does a housing list. Both are free.
Please DO NOT pay to advertise with people like Easyroomate, it's a waste of time IMHO.
Lastly, Loot, hmm, not convinced, always got strange phone calls when advertising on there!
Also, as someone else suggested, a local paper, or, what about local gyms / supermarkets etc - and any clubs you're a member of. Also, make sure you send out an e-mail to people you know they might just know someone who's looking...
Good luck

I use https://www.BananaBean.com its free and similar to Gumtree - very easy to use and nicely laid out - you can also use it to advertise for loads of other stuff and trades.0
