Gartmore problems - should I switch
Am getting a little unnerved by all the current problems at Gartmore which I suspect could mean fund managers taking their eye off the ball. Am holding their European Select Opportunities Fund. Can anybody else suggest another perhaps more reliable European alternative?

Can I have 2 ISAs if one has never been used?
Two years ago I opened an online cash ISA. I never had the funds to make use of it, never activated the online or phone banking elements of it and no longer have the paperwork. It has a zero balance and has never been used. Can I open an ISA elsewhere now? I will only be using the new ISA, not the old one. I need to dig…

junior ISA
The govt are introducing junior ISAs next autumn to replace the child trust fund. Does anyone know if it will be possible to transfer funds from a CTF to a junior ISA when the time comes OR will the cash have to stay in the dormant CTF perhaps earning poor interest?

Trying to plan for a maturing Isa-useless!!
How can you plan ahead for a maturing Isa when things are being pulled so suddenly. Fixed rate Isa matures 22/11 but if I try to apply for anything now, asking for the maturing bond to be transferred on 22nd, the chances are whatever I pick will be gone! Means I suppose I have to wait till the last minute .

As the subject line, is it possible to have more than one cash ISA? If so, how would it work in any given tax year?

Topping up ISAs
Hi My cash isa is now just over £50,000 which of course is the max for bank guarantee. What should I do next April? Can I leave this one alone and open a new one? The rule is £5,100 per tax year but is that with any or as many as you like providers? look forward to any observations/opinions Regards Old Bloke

Transferring a Combined Cash and Stocks ISA
Hi All, I have a combined cash and stocks and shares ISA (in two parts though) and I'm looking to transfer it because it inevitably isn't performing as well as it used to. I can understand the process of transferring an ISA, but what I would like to do is get rid of the stocks and shares part and simply end up with one…

Halifax ISA promise
The Halifax ISA promise says I have been told on the phone by Halifax that this is the date that the ISA processing center receive your form (which they also said should be the next day through internal mail). Elsewhere (on here I think) I've read it's the day you hand in your form to the branch. In my case there seems to…

Oversubscribed but bank says I haven't?!
I had a cash mini ISA with Standard Life until recently and paid approximately £4,500 into it between April 2010 - September 2010. I then transferred it to Principality in October. Since then I have paid in approximately £750 and, as with my previous years' subscriptions with other banks, was expecting to have the excess…

Chelsea isa to Chelsea isa
Has anyone moved from an ordinary maturing fixed rate Chelsea isa to their new fixed 2yr 'e' isa ? Ideally it should be a straightforward seamless transfer with no loss of interest, being an internal thing --or is that too much to hope for? ( I Remember N.Rock insisting on sending a maturity cheque back to me, to be…

Can I put business money into an ISA?
I'm a sole trader with a small business. To date I have not taken any income from the business but am slowly building up a cash cushion. But, by doing that, I'm getting quite a large balance in the current account I use for my business and want to move some of that cash into a savings account so that I get a better rate of…

number of ISAs?
Hi all, What's the maximum number of ISA accounts I can hold? I have a three year, fixed rate ISA in which I can't invest any more than my original deposit plus a bog standard Santander ISA. Next tax year I'd like to open another fixed rate but am not sure whether that's allowed. And is there a maximum overall amount that…

Transfer from existing ISA to new one
I have just over £12,000 in a Fidelity ISA (I think it started life as a Tessa, but I'm not sure). I would like to transfer it out - ideally in part to a Cash ISA offering decent rate - £5,100 I think is the limit. Then some of the balance to a shares ISA - up to a further £5,100 - is that right? But I'd like to retain…

ISA Question on Maturity
Hi, I opened my first Cash ISA in January this year and put in the full allowance limit at that time which was £3600. I opened up another one at the same Bank in August this year and put in the full £5100 allowed for the 10/11 tax year. Question is what happens in January 11 when the first ISA matures? I cannot start…
