car insurance help please
I have car insurance with a different provider from last year. they have written to me asking for the details of my previous policy (proof of no claims), otherwise they will charge me extra as effectively a driver without a `no claims` history. The problem is that I can`t remember who last years insurer was! Yes I know its…

Helphire/Angel Assist - none fault accident
Hi On Monday, in the snow, I'd been parked in my car for about 10 minutes before collecting my daughter from school when a taxi pulled out of a side street, turning left, going slightly faster than he should have been going considering the awful snow and the fact he was coming out of a downhill road (but he wasn't breaking…

Life Assurance - Am I paying too much?
My wife and I have a life assurance policy through Friends Provident, it covers us for £100,000 (the value of our house when we took it out), we are both early 30's, non smokers, and no health problems. Our cover is death and critical illness, we are currently paying £50 per month, is this too much? Thanks Dave

Life Insurance/Investment Mis-sold?
I took out a whole of life policy approx 17 years ago. Was told at the time that investments would grow over the years and I could draw at any time from them or when my children went to uni or could leave it and draw it in my retirement. Also had cover built in for life insurance and critical illness cover. At no time was…

New Contents Insurance Policy immediately following large claim . . . help please!
Hello again For those of you who have seen my previous posts, I've got another question. When we've got the claim settled (currently looking about 1/2 - 2/3 of coverage payout following massive water damage) and moved into our new house, where is the best place to get insurance? I've looked at the price comparison site but…

Twice Bitten, twice stupid
Another car insurance sob story but hopefully it will serve as a kick up the bum for people, like me, happy enough and let them come back to you. Don't do this - get on the thieving swines early and get what is rightfully yours. OK several years ago I had a no-blame car crash. At the time I was with Direct Line. The car…

Identity Theft Insurance
I just rang Alliance and Leicester to activate a new card for my company and they asked why I did not have insurance against fraud. They said that anyone could use our company name and address and set up financial arrangements or bank accounts and that we would be liable. He then went on to say that the same went for any…

Fake witnesses vs. CCTV footage
Don't know if anyone can give any guidance here, but is there a standard practice in the industry that says witness statements take precedence over CCTV footage? I was in accident last year that wasn't my fault - very long story which I won't go into here, but both me and the other driver were insured with the same…

car insurance query
My insurance company paid a third party claim without contacting me at all. I had reported an incident where another driver accused me of scraping some paint from his OSF bumper whilst I was reversing into a parking bay. I heard nothing until my renewal quote had been loaded to to a claim. I made no claim for damage as…

My drainpipe damaged someone's car (?)
Hi - thoughts anybody! This evening a vandal/s attacked a 30 foot drainpipe of mine and brought the whole thing down. It was very heavy and firmly fixed to the external wall. I was out of the house within 2 mins but no sign of anyone. It looks like when my drainpipe was ripped away from the house it might have…
