Identity Theft Insurance

I just rang Alliance and Leicester to activate a new card for my company and they asked why I did not have insurance against fraud. They said that anyone could use our company name and address and set up financial arrangements or bank accounts and that we would be liable.

He then went on to say that the same went for any individual.

He tried to sell me insurance for the company at £90pa and me individually at £60pa with other family members being a bargain at £40pa. He was very anxious that I should do it now and asked me several times to confirm that I did not want to do it.

I have not heard about this kind of insurance before.

Are you liable in such instances of what I guess is identity theft?

Should I take out such insurance - if so what is the best deal.

Or am I just being pressured into something I don't really need?

Kind regards,

Rose
