Artificial Grass Vacuum recommendation
Anyone able to shed some light on recommendations for my artifical lawn. Need to clear leaves etc off it, plus something to 'fluff' it up as it flattens over time. Would a lawn garden vac be best, or just an artificial lawn brush?

EIC in a different name than installer
We received our EIC and asked the installer some questions about it (sub-contracted via builder). He replied saying he didn't install it he only inspected the installation. However the certificate is an EIC and he has signed his name under the installation part of the cert. This seems pretty dodgy. It's NICEIC and they…

Problems with work done by plumber
Hi, We have had work done by a plumber and have some residual problems from that work. The work done involved replacing the high pressure cylinder, boiler service and replacing a couple of leaking radiator valves. The plumber was 2 hours late on the day and so IMO made mistakes towards the end of the day to get the work…

Insulated Warm Conservatory roof advice
Hi Looking to upgrade an existing conservatory which has a 20 yr old polycarbonate roof and dated frames. The roof frame is sagging and frankly surprised it has lasted the recent storms. I was interested in a warm roof and been reading about the Guardian and Supalite types. Had a few quotes which have been variable in…

Best padlock?
By 'best' I not only mean the obvious reliable and secure, but easy to use! That, in turn, means things like easy-to-read numbers for the myopic..., firm wheel 'clicks', wheels that don't move when you are turning adjacent ones, that sort of stuff. Cheers

New Doors – Existing Liners Too Small
Hi all, So we were about to order some new solid core doors. But prior to ordering, thought I would double-check the internal measurements of our existing door liners. And guess what, they are 1960mm. Solid core doors are 1981mm, usually with a maximum total trim amount of 10mm... taking the height of the door down to…

New to decorating - chimney breast cracks
Hi, So we bought an older house and have just removed the paper in my sons room to redecorate. We want to paint as my daughter will pick at wallpaper. What is the best way to solve the top of this chimney breast? Is it okay to just polyfill these cracks, sand and damp seal paint to prime? Thankyou

Air Source Heat Pump? (Hybrid)
Hi all! I’m in the midst of renovating a larger property which currently gets its hot water from an Aga and radiator heat from a Heat Only Boiler (38kw). I’m going to be adding an indirect cylinder for the hot water and getting rid of the Aga, however I wondered if there are medium term cost efficiencies in also installing…

New home
I have recently moved to a new home. I picked the keys from the agent and when i opened the door there was leak from radiator near the front door. We believe that as the seller left the property they knocked the radiator and this causes the leak. It's now cost me £300 for an emergency repair. I contacted the seller…

Party wall...
We're in the final stages of planning our single story kitchen extension. Our plan is to re open the chimney breast, raise the lintel and put our hob unit in there. My question is, as we're not touching the party wall itself and not wholly removing the breast, just effectively making the opening bigger do we need to serve…

Ballpark cost for garage/workshop?
I know I'm asking for a finger in the air, but I need a number to start working towards and I feel bad about asking someone to come and give me a quote when I know I'll not be in a position to get anyone to do the work for at least a year... So can someone give me a very basic ballpark amount to have someone build a…

Colour advice for kitchen please…
Hi. Kitchen renovations are well underway. Wall knocked down and had made a huge difference to the dynamics of the kitchen. We have had a kitchen design (below) but have decided it’s too grey and being a North-ish facing kitchen we have decided to go for cream colour cabinets to keep the area light but desperately need…

Vax rapide carpet cleaner tripping RCD
Having a clear out of my daughters, we came across a vax rapide carpet cleaner. Having cleaned it up of all the dust and years of grime. We come to plug in for a test. It’s a two switch cleaner, one for the cleaner and one for the brush roller. First switch all ok, then came to switch on the roller, RCD tripped. Having…

Replacing Windows - Any Schemes?
Hello all I purchased my new (first) home last year and, having lived through the winter I've realised that the windows & doors should be replaced if I've any hope of reducing the amount of energy I use (very draughty). I've replaced all of the stormguard seals which in fairness has improved performance, but I'm still…

14 inch (35cm) pizza tray?
Bit of a weird one, and I was looking at pizza trays that are glass, largely because I browse r/buyitforlife and you can make it stick with a little bit of a equity of oil I found this, which is great for a 12" pizza at 30cm but not necessarily suit at 14" or 35cm PIREX Pyrex tart mold 30/814 Pastry and Cake Design…

Fan oven fan not spinning
Our Hotpoint fan oven, the fan doesn’t work. I replaced the element last year as it had failed and recently the fan doesn’t run when you turn the oven on. After about fifteen minutes you can see the heating element glowing red/orange, but the fan isn’t running. I’ve had the internal cover off and the fan will spin freely…

Inductions cooker high standby energy usage
We've just had a new Smeg TR4110IP induction range cooker fitted (about 2 months ago). I noticed the other day our energy monitor seems to be quite high on standby. About 650W. I went around the house and made sure everything was off and unplugged (including phone charges) apart from the internet box and wireless…
