Problems with work done by plumber

Hi,
We have had work done by a plumber and have some residual problems from that work. The work done involved replacing the high pressure cylinder, boiler service and replacing a couple of leaking radiator valves. The plumber was 2 hours late on the day and so IMO made mistakes towards the end of the day to get the work done quickly which resulted in the work taking longer than expected. I created the following thread in the legal section which has more details and photos so I don't want to cross post everything:

I've tried to contact the plumber to resolve the issues but he keeps fobbing me off with different excuses. He even arranged three appointments but didn't bother to turn up. The problems are basically 1) air in the system which results in a loud pop/bang when taps are turned on 2) IMO he didn't connect the pipe to the thermostat/pressure output correctly as he tried to shorten the work by simply pushing this into the new cylinder but it was not long enough. 3) He reused the thermostat which has now dropped off.
I think this is a combination of legal and work issue. I am about to get quotes now after geting fed up with the plumber but I was wondering if the issues are serious and what work and how much work needs to be done to resolve these issues?
Many thanks,
Imran

You are protected under The Consumer Rights Act 2015

Section 52 of The Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires the service to be done within a reasonable timescale.
The Consumer Rights Act 2015 states remedies for breach of contract must be performed within a reasonable amount of time, without significant inconvenience to the consumer, and whilst the company bears all necessary costs.
Have you paid the final invoice payment?Have you gone through Checker Traders complaint process & reported their trader?
Does Checker Trader have a ombudsman? If there is I would suggest you go through their Alternative Dispute Resolution service (it is cheaper than going through the courts).
I would suggest that you get an independent trader in to give you a written quote to rectify the work done - this will be the amount you will be asking for compensation/final invoice amount adjustment.
It would be worth contacted the Citizens Advice Bureau for advice (they have template letters etc & will be able to assist you through the process).1 -
This is my first foray into the legal arena so your post helps a lot. Many thanks for the pointers.Arrianna said:
I spoke to Checkatrade on Friday and they said someone would get back within 48 hours but havent heard anything as yet. I'm in the process of getting quotes for the remaining work. I'll look at the CAB for the letters/templates.0
