Positive /negative head shower pump
Many years ago we had a pre formed shower cubicle installed and a pump because both hot/cold are gravity fed from tanks, the pump (2 bar) never worked properly as we always had to lower the adjustable shower head (nearly to the floor) before the pump would start. Now we’ve got rid of the old shower and installed a dual…

Damp spongy wall behind tiles. Help please!
We noticed a leak coming from the cracked grout around the tiled bath wall. We’ve removed the tiles and found that areas of the wall behind are wet and crumbly/ spongy. Is there anything else we can do apart from keeping the tiles off and keeping the wall dry to make it dry and ready to be re tiled?

Instead, within a minute or two the water is appearing from under the shower and flooding the floor.…

DIY radiator circuit flush
Relatives' bungalow has at least one radiator blocked (with sludge, I presume) and a couple more partially cold, and the whole system is a bit slow. So I will have a go at clearing the affected rads and maybe attempt to flush the whole circuit. There are 17 radiators and the circuit is gravity fed. There's a magnetic…

Fabric blinds for large bifold/patio doors? Do they help with insulation? Or use Luxaflex duette?
We've got some new 4.5m bifold doors which we're looking to put some blinds in front of. One consideration is if the blinds will help keep the room warmer in winter. ie: Simply close the blinds on cold days and especially over nights to help keep the house warmer. We're considering either just using regular roller blinds…

Help identifying fence paint colour?
Does anyone know what colour this fence paint might be? It's kind of a taupey purple/mauve. Thought it was Cuprinol Heartwood (painted a swatch on the second picture) but looks like it's drying too light, more of a lilac. Any ideas much appreciated!

Builders liability (materials in road)
Hi I’ve hired some builders to do my driveway. Today they had pallets of bricks delivered and these were placed in the road outside my driveway. These are likely to stay all weekend. I’m concerned they may not have a license to do this and have tried to contact them to ask. If a car should come along and hit the pallets…

Advice please? Can you lay Indian sandstone on solid concrete with sand inbetween?
We have some pavers in to break up our concrete garden, to level, add in a step (we're on a slope) and pave with Indian sandstone. The concrete is hard (shock horror) and they can't get it out easily. To be fair to them the concrete is maybe 200mm thick or more. The area at the side of my kitchen is also supposed to be…

Hi, does anyone know the name of the plastic shelf that runs the whole length of the bath that is fixed to the wall and acts as a caddy and splash back? Can I remove Half of Tree Stump that is in my garden?
Hi Folks, Looking for some advice here, we moved into to our new build house around 18 months ago and had a tree in the garden that resulted in our fence being out of line (Skewed) which meant we had a lot of land that was in accessible behind the fence. Painted patches with old wall paint and it stinks like musty old mop
Hi everyone, am at the end of my tenancy, so decided to patch up some stains left by my creative 3 year old. Nothing big just like 10 cm by 10 cm patches in a few places around the house, in total like 4-5 patches. I used an old can of paint that was left from the last time this house was painted, roughly in 2015 so 6…
