Neighbours walking across bottom of drive
We have a set of 6 foot gates at the bottom of our drive with a small patch of paved land just outside of these ( width of drive and about 1/2 a meter depth). Our neighbours keep walking across this to access their back gate and parking space which is adjacent to our back gates. We can't politely ask them not to as on more…

EPC Cavity wall insulation
Hi, we’re looking at getting air source heating so checked we had loft and cavity wall insulation (we have both). When the guy came to do our EPC cavity insulation is still a recommendation as he assumed it was original insulation (it isn’t) and wouldn’t listen to me or look at the email from the cavity insulation company.…

I have attached photos- it’s not always this bad, this was on a day when it was very cold outside. Usually I just get a bit of condensation and black spot mould where the wall meets the ceiling on these…

Cold radiator
Hi one radiator is stone cold. All others are heating fine. I’ve turned all other radiators off and the pipe by the thermostat radiator valve gets hot and a small part of the lower radiator and that’s it. I’ve bled the radiator and all that comes out is water which is clear.I’ve opened the other end and nothing happens. I…

Hose pipes
Hi all. I am looking for a retractable wall fixed hosepipe. I need it for use with a pressure washer. I have looked at a few and the description mentions the hose has a working/burst pressure of 8bar. Will that be ok to use with a pressure washer? I haven't a clue what bar pressure they are. Kind regards Jeff.

New washing machine - clicking noise
I've just had a new washing machine installed and noticed that it makes a clicking noise when the drum starts turning, and a slightly quieter/duller noise when it stops turning. It's hard to tell when it's coming from but seems loudest at the top, above the drum. It seems to work fine otherwise - is this clicking normal or…

Does anyone know what's caused this? It runs from just under the corner of the window frame across the wall and into the next wall. Thanks

Noise Levels
HI, would appreciate any advice. My neighbour uses lots of different machinery in his garden which is directly next to ours garden/house. Noise levels when recorded outside are around the 90db mark. We've tried approaching them to discuss but they're not interested and it's starting to cause a nuisance and stress? What's…

Whirlpool dishwasher: rinse aid symbol
This dishwasher was in the house when we bought it; it is integrated and there was no instruction leaflet about it. I looked up online manuals for Whirlpool dishwashers so found out which buttons to press for normal washing and for dirtier dishes. However, I cannot find an answer to my question which is: is it normal for…

Is a 10.5w shower worth the upgrade?
We have just moved into a new build and the en-suite shower is 9.5w and pretty rubbish compared to the mains shower in the family bathroom. The cable is 10mm so can sustain a 10.5w shower but would it be much more powerful or would we hardly notice? We have a combi boiler so a power shower is unachievable so I am told.

Extending near underground electrical cables
Hi, we have been wondering if we should extend our house, but we have some underground electrical cables on the edge of our boundary, which leads to a substation. I was just wondering if anyone had ever extended near underground cables and if there was a certain distance you had to be away from them, any difficulties etc?…

What can cause boiler to not heat water properly?
Wife has just ran the bath and the water is just coming out warm. Actually it's probably more lukewarm as warm suggests it's not too bad. I could hold my hand under the hot tap fine enough without it even coming close to uncomfortable never mind actually burn. The boiler pressure when the hot tap was running was 2bar which…

Is thick laminate flooring available in a square edge?
Looking to buy flooring for several room and I'm definitely looking at the budget end of the scale (ideally £10 per sq m or less but can stretch to £14 for something justifiable). Thus, I've decided to go with laminate flooring. Had a look around the usual B&Q, Wickes etc and noticed the various thickness. I'm more drawn…

Anyone tried glues that harden with UV light such as Bondic?
I've seen Bondic for sale on Amazon, the reviews seem distinctly mixed. Their website suggests it's like the stuff used by dentists but I'm told the dental stuff uses blue light these days rather than UV light

Hybrid mattress - Simba or Otty (or neither?)
Hi I am looking for a new super king size mattress, and would like a hybrid. I've been looking at the Simba and the Otty, but can't decide which to get because of the reviews. People seem to either love them or hate them. Some people report issues with the mattress sinking or becoming uncomfortable after a while - can this…
