Noise Levels

Options
HI, would appreciate any advice. My neighbour uses lots of different machinery in his garden  which is directly next to ours garden/house.  Noise levels when recorded outside are around the 90db mark. We've tried approaching them to discuss but they're not interested and it's starting to cause a nuisance and stress?
What's an acceptable 'level' and has anyone advice on how to approach this?

Forget and try and ignore it unless its after about 9pm. Council wouldn't  be interested in day time noise.

    Really? That’s  pretty disappointing!
So do we just have to put up with it?
  • Pretty much, i had a neighbour building his own extension for more than 6 months. I contacted the council and they had a word with him regarding night time noise only.

Yep it does seem that councils aren’t interested! With this neighbour it’s generators, machinery and racing off road vehicles!

Thats a big bloody garden if he can race off road vehicles !!!!
  • Try contacting the council about a noise diary - I kept one for our neighbours last year (students who thought they were DJs...) and they were issued a warning about noise. Some was night time but the majority was throughout the day. If it's regular and as loud as you say you might stand a chance of something being done - but you've got to be prepared for some kind of retaliation from him in return.
