How and when do they check structural calculations under Building Notice?

I spoke to an architect/structural engineer company about concerns about doing building regulation approval…

Need front door sizing help - fitter says new door must be 6" narrower!
So i have a rotting old wooden font door, with side and top lights at the moment. The door aperture is currently 910mm. I want a composite replacement (so all new frame and side and top lights), but the fitter days the max door width i can have is just 755mm (29"). That's crazy. It's slightly narrower even than internal…

Neighbour's building against my house wall?
I live in a mid terrace where the front walls are staggered, meaning mine is 3' further out than my neighbours. There is therefore this area of my house wall & roof protruding alongside their front door. They have informed me they want to build a porch to end flush with my front house wall. My worry with this is that as it…

Have I just ruined this sofa?
Either leather or pleather, I'm not sure! But whichever it is, my wee lad just peed over it, and in my haste I cleaned it with dettol. Now there's thin layer of something bobbling and peeling off it! Hopefully my picture has been attached. Is there anyway I can restore that?

Why does my Central Heating Boiler main fuse keep blowing?
We have a (system) Worcester Greenstar 18 Ri Central Heating Boiler, fitted 8 years ago.
