Hi all,
Just saw some ants coming out of the skirting gap. For the time being, have put some baking soda. Is there is an easy way to fix or seal the gap.
Thanks a lot.

    The gap is unimprtant.

If you remove the food source they are seekign they will no longer come in. Is it a route to the kitchen? Maybe remove the plinths and clean behind, but find it and remove it. The yare not coming in for fun!

Also just get an ant trap thing. baking soda will not help much.

    Thanks for the reply.
This is a bedroom on the ground floor. This is an extension. This room is adjoining the living room. So for food they will have to travel far!! Can't see any in the kitchen. Will look into ant traps.

Try Diatomaceous Earth it is like talc powder but is sharper in texture to ants.  It wont damage the floor etc like a poison back to  would.
Annoying things agree about food source...we had them around one window in lounge outside and in nightmare so many -used Ant stop bait stations one outside and one on window sill only problem is not a quick fix as idea is they take poison back to nest so could be a week before destroyed, next year was prepared with stuff just in case but didn't return

Thanks. Have ordered diatomaceius earth and an ant bait. Hopefully can be controlled quickly!!
  • I don't know how baking soda worked for you. I have tried vinegar with baking soda and cinnamon but it didn't work.

Most ants are opportunistic feeders; they'll eat just about anything. That can include other ants, dead insects, parts of dead animals, grains, fruits and vegetables.

I have sealed the skirting gaps. I did not want to use a ant killer, which I have ordered anyways. There is a gap behind the radiator from which some are still coming. Baking soda doesn't work.
  • Pointless trying to close the gaps - they will just find another one.

You need to find where they are coming in and seal it from outside.

I have spread Diatomaceous talc powder near the affected areas and the skirting. Any idea how long for the ants to be killed. Annoying little creatures!!

Use ant stop ant killer trap. Used it a few times and ants disappeared for good overnight.
