House/room layout software for rookie

Is there any free (or cheap) software/website that allows layperson to plan their house/room layout. I want to play around with several ideas and get a very rough visual idea of how they will look (ideally with a 3D view of the layout). I've seen some options already but I think they are extremely complicated and targeted for a skilled architect for professional use. Whereas, I'm looking for something to give me a very rough idea.

Any recommendations please?

Only basic, not 3D etc, but a step up from a pen and paper.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

Sweet Home 3D. Just about the only thing missing IMO is elevations. Has a forum, tutorials on Youtube, furniture/object libraries, etc. It does feel a bit "old fashioned", but it works.

Yes, I managed to find this yesterday in some google searching too. I definitely agree that it is an awesome bit of software (especially for free). Also, very easy to use
