Anglian Home Improvement situation
Hello. I cannot give too much details because the situation with Anglian has just begun (it would be counterproductive to state my full situation here for the time being) What I can tell: I was pressured into signing a contract for a bespoke door, in a similar manner to other stories I've seen in reviews afterwards , for…

Replacing a sink strainer
My kitchen sink is leaking and I can clearly see what the problem is - The top of the pipe (which, from my googling, seems to be called the strainer unit) is completely detached from the plug hole. It looks like there should be a screw holding everything in place but I'm guessing it has just disintegrated. I am the least…

My neighbour has spoke to me about a window they are putting in to change a room into a bedroom, this new window will be within one metre of the boundary line between our houses (Semi Detached). This neighbour had planning permission granted for an extension in 2012 then made an amendment in…

Combi boiler
Hello, I've posted this elsewhere on the internet but looking to get as many opinions as possible. We have a 10 year old Vaillant system boiler and a 30 year old hot water cylinder. Boiler needs replacing and, since we don’t currently get enough hot water for our needs and could really do with the space where the cylinder…

Gap in external wall around pipe
Hi all - first post so please be kind. I have a water softener with an overflow pipe that hangs out of the external wall behind it. There's a small gap around the pipe which I'd like to plug. However, the pipe is attached to the water softener so I can't cement it in place or put expanding filler around it as the softener…

Lino cushionflooring
Have you had any of this laid in recent times? Was it laid over floorboards? Or was it over-laid on what was there already? Expected to have the tiles taken up, but looks like that is not the case. Don't want to look for problems - but in a weird way nice to know that the floorboards were still in good nick!!

How much to put in a small window?
We’ve just bought a new build & the developer has forgotten to put a window in! It’s just a small one so I was wondering how much it would cost to rectify and put one in (so cut bricks out, replace with a window and make good)? Has anyone done this? Thanks

Bricking Up (i.e. replacing) a conservatory
Our previous neighbours added a conservatory to their house about 10 years ago. It was a monstrosity, covering virtually the whole width of their back wall. The conservatory walls came about half way up the back wall although the apex was obviously higher, and I’d guess it covered a bit less than half their back garden.…

Replacement Diverter Valve
Hello, I'm looking for advice please. I'm a first time home owner. I've found out today that I require a replacement diverter valve as I'm only getting Luke warm water coming through taps. Any suggestions for a good window fitter in Northamptonshire?

Vibration plate rubber mat --- glue?
The rubber mat vibrated itself off my vibration plate. The plate is steel. I was advised to use Evostik Impact to stick it back on. I spread an entire large tube - cost £5 - across every part of the mat and the plate. Left it to become tacky, then placed the mat back on the plate. Weighted it down with books and left it…
