Hi all
Has anyone tried one of the cheap Chinese LED linear bulbs off ebay etc ? If so, what's the light quality like compared to a halogen one ?
They're about £4 on ebay, eg: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dimmable-R7s-LED-78mm-118mm-135-189mm-Security-Flood-Light-Replace-Halogen-Bulb/322520677883?var=511498856317
Thanks !

MY floor standing lamp use a 240w R7s 118 halogen so the equivalent LED is a 30w. You can find 30w dimmable R7s LED replacements on Amazon for £17 but I decided to buy a new 30w LED floor standing unit (£70) as I have read you need a different dimmer and mine is built in. The lighting quality is about the same on the old and new units but whereas the halogen one was costing me £3 a week the LED costs 40p so I will get my money back in a year.0

Was wondering the same, one of our security lights outside uses R7s 118mm lamp, but I guess to match the 400w thats in it now, I'd need at least a 40W LED replacement?0

Thanks both.
Unless anyone here has any experience of the cheap eBay ones then I might try it myself...0 -
I have not seen any 40w LED R7s 118 equivalents but the 400w halogen versions are not banned under the EU halogen lights banned list as they are specialist bulbs. So if its just for a security light that come on for a few minutes then it wont cost too much to run.0
