Sorry but I'm sure I have read that they are not compatable unless somebody else can tell us differently

Needs to be a leading edge dimmer switch I think (so its LED compatable)
  • Traditional dimmer switches cannot work with dimmable LED's, you have to switch the dimmers for LED compatible ones, which are not cheap. I looked at changing a double dimmer in our living room so I could change the 6 bulbs in our main light and the 4 in the wall lights to dimmable LED's, the economics do not stack up at all!

I have a generic dimmer switch with a Philips dimmable LED lamp. Despite all the warnings, it works fine.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

I think the traditional dimmer is a leading edge type
Its a trailing edge dimmer for LEDs isn't it ?

Having said that i have tried the old existing dimmer with newer dimable LEDs and it worked OK - although maybe more a series of steps rather than a 100% smooth up and down across the range

But I've not tried a trailing edge dimmer yet to see the difference
