Best to have hot water come on when away?
Hello. I have an unvented system with the hot water cylinder in the loft. When on holiday I turn all the radiators off on my evohome system, leaving them on the frost protection setting. Is it ok to keep the hot water completely turned off for 2 weeks? Or is it best for it to heat up a couple of times a day to prevent…

Problem inside my roof gable wall (now with better video)
So I've drilled a hole in the gable end wall in my loft. I'm looking for the source of some water dribbling down and hitting my back door on the ground level. I've stuck a crappy endoscoping camera through the hole in the inside leaf wall of the gable end, and so what I see should be the outside leaf wall of the gable end.…

Lubricant for external door latch - only closes with force.
The outside entrance door to my flat usually closes to with a gentle pull, but now takes some force to slam the door shut from outside, starting roughly when the cold spell began this week. I think the door latch needs lubricating as I find it's moving in fine when I press it in a bit with my finger. My local DIY shop…

Plastic pipe joint fail - why?
A new heating system was installed by the previous owner. Just over 2 years later, after I bought the place, there was a massive leak under the floor caused by a faulty joint in the plastic pipes. How to disinfect a floor mop
I find it so easy cleaning our wooden floors with a traditional mop over an electric steam cleaning. I know the mop head is full of germs after every mop so I want to start disinfecting it after each mop. Would 500ml of vinegar and 500ml of boiling water do the trick? Many thanks.

To kick start with the important one... Short & sweet we're looking at tiling the bathroom as part of a re-do.
