Draught coming down the chimney

We have a gas fire in the main room which is only really used when it’s very cold. With today’s high winds the draught coming down it is most annoying. Is there a purposeful way of getting rid of the draught that’s not permanent for when we want to use the fire?

Chimney balloons.
A cheap way is a bit of rockwool insulation in a carrier bag loosely pushed up the chimney.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

As above, chimney balloons are good, as is a cheap homemade alternative. A good tip is to hang something from it on a piece of string, so that it's visible in the fireplace. That way, you have a visual reminder to remove it before using the fire.0

There is a gas fire that is occasionally used, so I assume a chimney balloon could not be used?
Maybe this?
