Help please

I am sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place. It's a long story but I'm hoping someone can offer some advice please. So three months ago a building across from my house starting getting renovated. Shortly after i heard some scratching in my bedroom and assumed it was a mouse so bought some poison and put it in the attic which i assumed it would solve the problem but it didn't. At the time a floor board had broken so i got that repaired and now there are no signs of any rodents in the house but every day and night i can hear something running through the floor boards. It is very loud at times but not with scratching, it's scuttering about the place. Recently I've noticed a few damp patches on floor boards inside cupboards and my water in my toilet has been making bubbling noises a few times. Then tonight my upstairs floor had a warm patch and so did a spot on the landing as well. Could this be down to mice or rats in the house eating pipes or something? Any advice welcome please.
