Toaster or Socket-Electric tripped

Not sure if I need a new toaster or if wall socket caused Electric to blow in kitchen+livingroom this morning when making toast.
Managed to flick on of the larger switches in electric box to restore power in both rooms.
How do I know if it's toaster or wall socket that's faulty.
Thanks in advance mser's

I doubt it's the socket, unless you got it wet recently. Does plugging toaster into other sockets trip them?

I had this with a tenant a few years ago. 8 year old naughty person had put buttered bread in toaster. :)
  • Try moving the toaster to another socket - if it trips again, it's the toaster.
Or plug something else into the original toaster socket - if it trips again it's the socket.

Thanks mser's I'll try kettle in the socket and reply.
I didn't try any other sockets -though all devices were off in Kitchen and living room.
Only noticed hall lights could be switched on-hall must be separate.

    Kettle works in 'toaster' socket.
Do I need a new toaster or could a replacement fuse help.

Unplug then clean out the toaster and let it dry thoroughly if I were you.

    It might be okay.

Thanks I also found a packet of fuses if required.
I'll avoid trying it in another socket -at least all my devices returned to full power when switch was restored.

    Toaster doesn't have removable tray.
Found a new one Argos site with removable tray.
    Think I'll purchase this today.
    14.99 very reasonable value
    Thanks mser's
Thankfully my electric restored with flick of a switch
