Ballpark figure for conversion to combi boiler system.
Hello, I currently have a regular gas boiler system (water tank in the loft, hot water tank in a cupboard in the bedroom) in my bungalow. It feeds 8 radiators in the home. The system is very old and the current boiler is at least 20 years old - to be fair to it, it has never gone wrong. My wife is always complaining about…

Help boiler timer replacement
I have moved into a rented property and aside from issues with floorboards gaps etc British Gas have told me the gas usage is incredibly high. I can see why as the property has an old timer that you either have to manually turn off or have on at least 3 hours a day. It's a Landis and Gyr timer with the white a red tabs…

New kitchen cost
Ok, so I know that this is totally variable and dependent on quality, size, taste etc. but am really just looking for a rough idea. Constantly hear horror stories about the cost of new kitchens so wanted to get a rough idea. Our kitchen isn't massive, and is a galley style with 2 double cabinets on one wall and two singles…

Cutting Net Curtain Cords
I had to put up some net curtains recently using traditional cords. I hadn't realised the metal wire inside these cords was so thick and difficult to cut. Can anyone recommend something to cut them with please?

Window cleaner not doing a good job
I've had a windows cleaner for about a year now, he comes every 6 weeks and uses one of those water fed reach poles so no ladders etc. My husband says he doesn't do a good job and I think he's probably right, after he came the other day there were still cobwebs outside an upstairs window. I'm not normally in when he comes…

Any point installing TRVs with this boiler?
I have a Swiftflow 75/80 but looking at the manual it doesn't appear to have any intelligence with regards to turning down the flame based on the temperature of the CH hot water return. Therefore, other than from a comfort point of view, would there be any point in installing TRVs on my radiators?

New carpet laid with wrinkles
Fitters for Carpetright put down a new carpet on Monday and it has wrinkles in random places. The fitter said the backing was too stiff to stretch any more for fear of it tearing and he suggested the wrinkles would flatten once the carpet settles down at room temperature. If this doesn't happen, I assume the fitters will…

Anyone got a Bosch WAQ283S1GB Washing Machine?
Thinking of getting one of these and would welcome any comments. I've read some reviews complaining that there's no separate 'spin only' option and others saying that there is - you just need to turn the dial to 'Rinse/Spin', then press the 'Aqua Plus' button to deselect the rinse part. Can anyone confirm that? Also some…

Washing-line query.
This might be a really stupid question, but I'm here to learn! :D My old washing line broke some time ago. I have bought a new length of line, but it just has bare ends.
