Power supply problem

Not sure whether to put this in here or 'consumer rights' but plumped for here ....
A few weeks ago, there was a power outage at our 'holiday cottage' in N Wales
We buy our power from N Power and it is networked (or whatever the word is) by S P Energy
Anyway, long story short, later that day the boiler wasn't working. Plumber came and fixed it (blown circuit board) = bill for £330
It's not covered by insurance, so spoke to SP who admitted that there had been a 'low voltage underground fault', but that they were only responsible for the supply 'to the meter' and thereafter it was the responsibility of our supplier (N Power)
I've not spoken to N Power yet as SP have said that they will put the details in writing, so thought I'd best wait till the letter came.
Does anyone have any experience on this sort of thing and who really is responsible???

This happened to a friend of mine about three years ago and UK Power coughed up for a new boiler.0

You need to prove to power company that the boiler got damaged during to that fault...was anyone else affected by this (this is the biggest clue as to why damage was caused)... . Electronic things can get damaged by power spikes but those are more likely to be caused due to lightning strike or any flashovers. Quite unlikely that a cable fault will cause damage.0
