Insulation - Cheapest supplier
Can anyone help with cheap suppliers or deals (not green deal and I don't qualify for ECO scheme). I'm insulating the ground floor (void between the floor boards and basement ceiling) and the prices are making it seem unrealistic, especially since we need 41sq meters. I'd ideally like the thickest boards but I'll consider…

Baffling puzzle for electrical experts
Really weird... Was vacuuming on first floor (yes, I know it's Christmas Day, but needs must!) and as the Henry cleaner head (set up for carpets) passed over the metal doorstrip (brass-effect aluminium I think) the smoke alarm in the hallway below went off - just four beeps. We worked out that the alarm is almost…

Boiler won't turn off!
I have a very ordinary conventional hot water/central heating boiler (Ideal Classic FF270) with cylinder upstairs and a pumped primary (I think that's what it's called) and two electrically controlled valves. The problem I have is that when the timer/controller says that the hot water should turn off, the pump doesn't - it…

Bathroom fan
Hello I need to install a new bathroom extractor fan and I think the Manrose CF100 is best suited to the job. I'm finding the bathroom stays damp…

Composite front doors, potential cost?
Just moved in to a ground floor ex local authority flat, and it has a fairly flimsy front door which is half glazed.
