Wall tiles - tile paint or transfers?
I bought my flat 6 months ago and I don't like the some of the tiles in my bathroom. The top half of the walls have white tiles which are lovely, but the bottom ones are a custard yellow colour, not really a colour I want for my bathroom. The tiles in the bathroom are practically new so I don't want them ripped out, (I'm…

Tip for rejuvenating an old roll of masking tape
Put it in a microwave and cook it for 20 secs (750W, high power). This softens the glue and makes the tape useable again. Be warned do not cook the tape for longer than this as it could catch fire! Hope this helps. Mike

Gas and water pipe plans
Bit of a shot in the dark here, but is it possible to obtain from somewhere (council?) plans of how a house is plumbed for water and gas? We would like to re-instate a fireplace but its full of various pipes, probably from an old gas fire with back-boiler. We'd like to know how things lie before we take a hammer to it!…

'Surprise' planning decision - what would you do.
Just after a little advice on a planning issue. In summary, we applied for a loft conversion with an L shape outrigger extension on a Victorian terrace under lawful development. Our surveyor had an email from the planning officer a couple of weeks ago saying that they would be minded to refuse the outrigger and would we…

One supplier has offered to fit a combimate to protect the combi boiler. However the product supplier suggests such devices are suitable for the whole system. Has anyone got any experience of these water conditioners as I would call them? Any thoughts much appreciated

Everything seems to be going to plan we have paid £6,344 deposit for the £24,000 conservatory, the actually workmen arrived a day late (because of the rain) and they have dug out the footings so things seem well. The only thing that is bothering me is he…

How easy is it to fit a garage door
We have got a double garage door and the door itself is ok, we just can't open it up from the outside. We have had someone around to see if it can be repaired, but apparently they do not make the mechanism to open/shut it anymore, so we would have to buy a new door. Been looking around and they are so expensive so wondered…

I can highly recommend a double glazing company in Central Scotland
Just had double glazing fitted in central scotland and I am absolutely delighted. I was recommended this company by another member of the board - thanks Glasgowdan. From start to finish they were friendly and professional (definitely not pushy) and could not do enough for me. The price was also the best I had been quoted.…
