We have a condesor boiler, the water heats up fine but the central heating wont come on unless we turn the thermostat upto 30 even though our room temperature is showing the room is only at 19.
Does anyone have any suggesting as to what could be wrong?

Which boiler and what control system? You know - makes, models etc.
Assuming your roomstat is in the hall has the radiator in the hall got a TRV on it?

Potterton profile. Yes the roomstat is in the hall and none of the radiators have a TRV on them.
We also have a boost button in the airing cupboard next to the water temperature setting and this no longer works.Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
It sounds like a controls problem to me. Whats the make /model of the stat? Might be a bit difficult to diagnose over teh interwebz tbh at a level anything lower than try changing the "X".
Does the "no longer working" boost button have any relevance to the heating or was that for hot water?

Well in the past when the heating wasn't working I pressed this button and the heating came on so I assume its to do with the central heating.
The stat broke and was only replaced exactly 2 years ago this month and its a British Gas RS1.
When the thermostat died last time we didn't even have hot waterWins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
Do you have a single mid position three port motorised valve or two separate motorised valves for heating and CH?
Is the pump running?
It may be that the boost button (thanks for clarifying) was rendered obsolete following the installation of the new roomstat or just wasn't reconnected.
The RS1 is a badge engineered Siebe unit and fairly basic.
Isn't a bit late at night to be doing this?

I expect he didn't reconnect it as he didn't even go in the airing cupboard.

I assume the pump is running or we wouldn't have any heating at all?
As for: Do you have a single mid position three port motorised valve or two separate motorised valves for heating and CH?
Im not sure what you meanWins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
Sorry - was on another thread. Re the valves perhaps I haven't exlained what I meant properly. Having said that I'm really thinking we should leave it for tonight otherwise neither of us is going to get any sleep (I'm sort of forecasting more than a few minutes will be needed on this) as at least your heating is functioning albeit not optimally.
Happy with that approach?
