when your next online, can you explain the valves pls?
    Hi

Sorry. Didn't get that far down page 2 last night so missed your request. Have a look HERE at the description of typical open vented systems either configured as Y plan or S plan. These are the two most common configurations. Its easy to understand and a lot quicker than me writing my own version. You'll see that the Y plan uses a mid-position three port valve so that CH and DHW can work at the same tme through a single valve. It will look something like one of these:

In S plan you would have two zone valves looking something like one of these:

what I am trying to find out is how your system is configured to try and narrow down the problem a bit. So if you could have a look around and see what motorised valves you can find that would be great.

PS As you have a Potterton you can call out Heatteam (Baxi/Pottuy Service Arm) for a fixed price repair.

PPS Don't let anyone persuade you that your Profile should be replaced. It may be D rated but its probably got 10 - 15 years life left in it and in that time you'll be looking at probably two modern complicated A rated boilers.

    Cheers
