Can anyone recommend a good cooker that doesn't cost the earth
Hi All, My very old Zanussi cooker is dying and I need a new one before the tribe descend on me for xmas. Really don't want to spend £500 on one (although the Zanussi has been good) and can't find many reviews. Does anyone own a cheaper brand that is good? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Opening up fireplaces
I want to open up the fireplaces in my Victorian house. At the moment I have 'fake' fireplaces that are gas but look like coal burning etc.. I am very disappointed in them and now I want real fires. I can afford to have a multi-fuel stove installed but wonder if this is the best option. I live in a smokeless zone, so would…

Our front doorstep gave up the ghost a few months ago, and with the cold weather approaching, we don't want to leave our basement open to the elements and little critters trying to take shelter. Storing Part Used Batteries
I find that small batteries such as AA and AAA still have some life in them after they are no longer strong enough for the tv remote etc. We have portable radios in virtually every room in the house so the batteries are worth keeping to reuse later in the radio. However, after a period of storage at room temperature they…
