Wall problems

I really need help with this problem.

I have notice that I'm getting damp on my living room wall, the floor is wooden and the same height as the front street. I'm thinking of getting a dpc injection done from the outside, we have a wall cavity but how would they protect the inside wall if the floor outside is the same height as the floor inside.

Please help!,

Given that you have a cavity wall there should not be any transmission of damp from the outside to the inside wall.
This can however happen if the cavity is bridged by rubble/debris or if the cavity ties have mortar deposits on them. You can only tell by removing a few bricks and doing a visual.
Before going to the expense of dpc injection I would try using Thompson's Water Seal. I've had good results with this stuff. £18 ish for 5 litres.
    Forgotten but not gone.
  • There is no need to remove any bricks try and hire a boroscope (its an eye piece with mirrors and a light at the end and give 360 degree vision) just drill a 10mm hole and you will be able to see any obstructions.

You could also speak to the local council if it is a penetrating damp problem caused by their pavement they may take it up and tank the wall.

It could be a few other things though its awkard to determine the exact problem without seing it.

Thompson water seal is a diy product not very strong and does not last very long due to its low solids
