Hi All
We have a very very limited budget of £400 to rip out and re-do our entire small bathroom in our new (old) house. The old bathroom is so tatty and it really needs doing asap to make the house liveable and comfortable. The only thing we make keep is the actual shower unit and head as it is a decent powerful shower, apart from that the bath, floor, tiles, sink, loo, everything is going in a skip.
The bathroom is very small, about 78" x 90" so space saving is essential, we were thinking a P-shaped bath may help and a smallish sink basin unit. Also I am not keen on tiles but would prefer something easier to wash down and keep clean, any ideas? We will need all new accesories too such as loo brush, toothbrush holders etc if anyone knows where there are some nice sets on offer?
If anyone knows of any sales or decent discounts anywhere now or in the next few weeks for any bathroom stuff or can offer any advice on doing up a small bathroom on a VERY SMALL budget then please let us know.
Many Thanks in advance peeps!

Hope this helps - no other replies so thought I would contribute.
My bathroom is even smaller; around 66" x 90". To keep costs down I did lots of online searching, visited local stores to check quality (also online reviews/feedback).
I almost always shower so chose a P shaped bath for the extra space to move around in (I'm tall and broad). Ate into the space between bath and basin but the suite from Wickes included a smaller basin and toilet so that did help stop it looking too cramped. They have a sale on now but the equivalent (Portland with P shaped & screen) is £50 over your budget. With an ordinary bath it's much cheaper (no screen included though). I mention it also because when I bought it they had a special 'first time online order' discount of around 20% iirc (on top of sale price) - only saw it on the online store and the offer disappeared for me once I placed my first order so worth checking online if they still do this.
Previously walls were tiled half way then painted. I didn't like the look of this so tiled everything myself (tiles from sale). I have had wallpaper (eventually) peel on me before - despite supposedly being suitable for bathrooms - so didn't consider this. I keep a cloth on the bath and wipe down tiles and screen after every shower - quick and easy.
Didn't like the style of Wickes accessories. Bought Loo brush from LIDL but the quality of their offers varies. Decided not to buy other stuff unless I liked it; toilet roll holder, towel rail took a while find while toothbrush lives in a mug now - decided I didn't really need one.0 -
You aren't going to get much from a £400.00 budget, particularly if you are paying for your skip hire out of this. You might need to prioritise on which aspects are most important to you. If you managed to achieve all that you have listed with this budget then it would be of the most horrific quality.0

Some great advice, thanks very much for taking the time to reply!0 -
Just out of interest, how are you finding the p shaped bath/shower?
I like how mine looks but water occassionally bounces off me and past the screen, so I have to put a bath mat down rather strategically!
I'm considering adding a curtain but that will spoil the look rather.Mortgage free plans on hold!

Seattle Bath Suite at B & Q is only £299 & comes with all waste & fittings taps etc (price of which can soon mount up) - sink is big - but at that price you could live with it!.
or Have a word with local builders, plumbers / merchants - some of them are ripping out perfectly good basic suites just to install the latest designer suites . Or what about ex-display? You could ask them to re-fit one of them for you - but their fitting costs may be mega (so fit it yourself). What about waterproof bathroom wallboards/wall panels instead of tiles - try ebay/ex-display again? Finally, Argos have a great range of cheap accessories.0 -

Dont go to the expense of hiring a skip - take the stuff to local tip (a bit at a time if necessary), big items like the bath should break up (if its cast iron - just leave it outside - take my word - somebody will take it within the hour for scrap!)0 -

If it's cast iron the OP should take the bath to the scrapyard themselves!!
I worked in recycling and couldn't believe what you can get paid for.....a nice cast iron bath would probably give the OP some funds to add to their bathroom suite. There are lots of scrapyards - just google!0 -

Oog, had some problem with spray to begin with. Got a longer (2m) hose and adjusted height and position of shower head. Some drops still get outside the bath, but very little now0 -
For accessories, try the range or b&m bargains
