Alas no, but I hope they tripped up and dropped it before they got to wherever they were going with it ....0 -
Oh no, I'm sorry to hear this. It's awful. Are you insured? More importantly, are you and your family okay?Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.0

Thank you, yes fully insured so all in their hands now, and all family members are okay

How did they get in? You might want to improve your security.
I don't want to worry you, but the tea leafs often wait a few weeks for you to replace stolen items, then come back to rob you again."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

They smashed a single glazed window at the rear of the house and climbed into the kitchen. New locks have now been fitted, along with replacement glass, plus the windows have been screwed down so they can't be opened (was planning on replacing the old windows/doors with UPVC next year, but am having to bring that forward now) :mad:0 -
Might be worth considering a cheap alarm, just a basic wireless one for a bit of extra protection.0

Can I just say I'm sorry about what's happened but as someone who has been burgled twice, don't put in your insurance claim straight away.
By all means, let your insurance know you will be making a claim and what's happened, but emotions are high at the moment and you may not notice all that is missing.
Get a notepad and pen and jot down what you notice just now by all means but as time goes by when you go to get something you may notice it's missing too.
When you are ready and a bit calmer submit your full claim and you have my permission to slap anyone who says to you "I'm sorry but hey at least you were insured!" across the face with a very large, smelly wet fish!
You will know exactly what I mean with the last bit in time as will anybody who has unfortunately been burgled.0 -
Maybe worth getting a crime prevention officer around if they still do that for any tips. Also maybe get a security light, make sure if you have them rear gates locked. I upgraded mine last month and also put another twin pir security light in. I got 3 now around house0

I would also go for the covert theft id system Smartwater.
Smartwater is an invisable dna based ink, each batch is uniqe to you and you alone and has led to many theifs getting done for theft weeks down the line, the ink actually stains the theif's skin and when placed under uv light they shine like xmas tree.
I have used it at a commercial premices where we were getting the copper air con pipe nicked, we had been hit twice each time costing over 3k to replace, this last time the police actually arrested and convicted some scroat from the ink they found on him :rotfl:
Another system I have used personally is the old fashoned uv pen, I had a car radio returned to me the same day after it was nicked from my car, the police recovered it, asked me to identify it which I could as I told them exactly where the markings were on the radio which were my post code and phone number. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0
