Lintel problem in a new build (1999)
Hi, It has been pointed out to me today that there are two cracks going down from my first floor window in a pyramid shape. Is this correct and how much would it cost to…

Looking to open up a chinmey brest in the kitchen and put an electric cooker in there. It used to have an oil burning boiler that vented up a metal flue liner and out via a chimney pot. Fence/boundary question
My deeds say that my left hand fence (looking towards the end of the garden) is my responsibility, as is the one at the end of the garden. My neighbours say it was not registered with the land registry so they adopted it. Is this possible? I hope not, as I'd like a higher fence as they have decking, and since the garden…

Maintenance of property boundaries?
Hello, We bought and moved into our house about 6 months ago, it's an end terrace. There is, like I assume with most terrace houses, a walkway around the side of our house to allow our neighbours access to their back gardens. The thing is, the path is poorly defined, we have a low wall around our garden, but the other side…

heat lost through a flue
Hi all. My wife and I have just bought a new house, but it comes with an open flue gas fire fueled by LPG (no mains gas available). My thoughts are that this is horrifically inefficient and will cost us a fortune in lost heat even if we never turn it on due to the warm air from the house going straight up the chimney. Does…

Electric Shower on Combi System?
Hi, I have a simple question and can't seem to find the answer! Can you power a normal electric shower on a mains system that has been converted to a combi boiler system? I'd rather do this than have the shower off the boiler in case the boiler breaks down. Thanks.
