250W radiator/heater..???
Am looking for a low powered radiator to warm through an airing cupboard occasionally, now that the copper cylinder has exited owing to the installation of a new combi boiler. The smallest I can find is 450w but this strikes me as too much for such a confined space. Can anyone tell me if an electric radiator or heater is…

Where can I buy underlay online
I saw a posting a few months ago, where a couple of good (cheap) suppliers of underlay and carpet grippers could be bought. I can't find it now so does anybody have a good supplier. I am getting carpets fitted, and have decided it will be cheaper to buy fit my own. I'll need carpet grippers too, for two rooms, but no doubt…

Lamona built-in oven question please
hi there parents have just bought the above. In the instructions 2 or more of the oven settings require that only one tray is used at any one time - presumably that means you can only use one rack at a time. does anyone know of any possible reason for this? thanks for any help. By the way I've read all the posts regarding…

Washing Machine Help
My washing machine decided to stop working on New Years Day:(...Great start to the new year eh!:o It still fills and empties but does nothing else. I have gone and purchased a damp house, help!
Hello :) Let me just start by saying I’m a complete novice to DIY! I recently purchased a 1900’s mid-terraced, two storey house. The Buildings Survey identified symptoms of rising damp; I borrowed a damp meter to confirm this. All internal walls are damp approx 1m up and the floor (cement) feels damp to the touch (the…

Bathroom dispute: legal questions
As some of you know I am about to pursue some bathroom fitters through the small claims court, to get back a large amount of money. They bodged a bathroom refit as described elsewhere (I won't link to it as I have had huge amounts of very useful information already). I am confident of a positive outcome, as I have letters…

Carpet fitting and uPVC sliding door repair
Hi there, I was just wondering if there is a rule of thumb for what recarpeting a whole 3 bed house would be? I realise there are a lot of variables and can work out the square meterage to price up the carpet itself, but I was wondering how much to add on for fitting? Also, does anyone know roughtly how much it would cost…

Any dimmers designed for a T5 fluorescent tube?
Hi I'm about to buy a floor lamp which uses a 21W T5 fluorescent tube and was thinking of buying a dimmer switch such as this to enable dimming. But AFAIK that would severely shorten the life of the tube as dimmers…
