Boiler Repairs

We had a plumber round as we have no hot water but our heating works fine. We have a combi boiler. The plumber said the only thing he could work out was wrong was our diverter valve but he couldn't get it off. We have a glow worm boiler so phoned them to have someone come round to fix it but they want us to pay them beforehand?!?!? I don't particularly want to pay someone before they have done the work but now im concerned that if i get someone else in and they cant take the valve off either, that I'm wasting even more money on labour charges?!?! HELP!!!!!!

Couldn't get it out because he is incompetant or has zero knowledge of the boiler or its a pigs ear of a design or what?
Gloworm engineers will be trained to remove Gloworm diverter valves and if they can't do it then they have failed to complete their side of the contract. Not surpised they want paying up front. Too many peeps call companies like this out then think they can get away without paying afterwards "'cos its a big company." If you don't want to do that get a second opinion from another indy who will probably not want paying up front.
And get a boiler man not a plumber 'cos not all plumbers are boiler men.
