New Boiler System Needed

We bought this house last year with the intentions of getting the boiler sorted before the winter... that didnt happen and we've just had a rather chilly winter lol. Currently installed is a Baxi Baermuda Inset 2, all of the Radiators throughout the house are single panel.

looking at replacing all of the radiators with more approapriate ones, I've been told to buy Worcester boilers a quick readup shows these to be very good too. We don't have a water meter if this makes any difference. There is a water tank in a cupboard upstairs and there seems to be one in the loft also.

Any pointers on decent offers at the moment or indeed the most popular/requested gear from anyone in the trade on here?
also any decent/recommeneded companies in the Newcastle/Gateshead area?

All input appreciated :)

Get a Viessman Vitodens boiler, German made. Quality don't buy cheap with Boilers never worth it.
My Mind wanders, if found please return.
  • Their are good boilers on the market you don't have to pay through the nose for . "Which" have done some good evaluations , worth joining for a free trial to get the benefit of their reviews

Which? only cover a limited handful of models, some of which are already obsolete. Stick to a Viessman, Well know German company.

As has already been mentioned, stick to a German brand such as Viessmann or Vaillant.

I think Worcester Bosch might also be considered a well known German brand-they've been owned by Bosch for nearly 20 years now.

I'd go for a Worcester as well. Replaced my boiler about 4 yrs ago and got a Vaillant after reading advice about it being the best. (I agree a boiler is not something to cut corners on.) The warranty was for 2yrs and about 2yrs 2mts the Thermostat (wireless) packed up. There are three seperate parts to it in different parts of the house but had to replace the lot at a considerable cost...then I got a water leak inside the boiler housing about 6 mts after that. My boiler repairer said he swears by Worcester and has had a lot of callouts to Valliant.

If you do get a Valliant I recommend you take out their extended warranty...at least for a few years.

I believe Bosch only bought the Worcester brand.

Vaillant and Viessmann tend to be more reliable German brands.

I'd go for a Vaillant. I've had mine for years and not had any problems with it (so far) and a lot of their boilers have been recommended by Which. I agree with what some of the other users have said, the cheapest isn't always the best boiler!

Good luck! Hope you get one soon so the rest of your winter is nice and toasty warm!

My granddad's having his Ideal boiler replaced today, he's fed up of getting it fixed. A Worcester approved installer is doing it (an Si model I think) and it comes with a 7 year manufacturers warranty at the moment!

Worscester currently have a 5 year warranty offer on some boilers. My installer gave me some spiel about the 5 year warranty offer being over when installed in August (just before the current offer started) so I'd better check with WB.

Regular servicing is important to prevent problems, as is making sure the system is cleaned when installed.

What is your evidence for that statement?
