we have recently moved to a house near the coast. we are finding the house very humid, we have a dehumidifer that sorts outs the issue to a large extent. Is there any natural way to solve?

Reduce sources of humidity (eg. don't dry washing indoors). Ventilate (general) and humid rooms (eg. bathroom after showering; kitchen after cooking/opening dishwasher) in particular. Plenty of posts on the topic on here (use search function).
cheers,

Thanks, I have tried the search as suggested, I think we are doing most things suggested but the RH level still seems very high. Is the problem because we are near the sea? w
We open the bedroom windows for an hour in the morning, the bathroom window after showering, the only thing we don't really do is open the window in the kitchen but we use the cooker extract. The heating is on 3 times a day (would it be better for all day and significantly reduce the temperature (say to 18degC?). The house doesn't feel damp generally.0 -
Sorry if this is a silly question, but if the house isn't damp in what way does it feel humid? Have you used a humidity reader to see what the level actually is?
I only ask because i did (do, without a de-humidifier) have a slight damp problem in a semi-basement room. I could tell because of the musty smell. However, if it hadn't smelled musty I wouldn't have worried.0 -
we have a barometer that shows its at the top end of normal,70% . We owned the house for a while before we moved in, it used to smell musty if it had been locked up for a couple of weeks. We used to heat the house but only to 10degC.
We had to buy a dehumidifier when we brought the house as there was a defective roof on the extension, and out of curiosity I put the dehumidifier on and it extracts a fair amount of moisture.
I was just trying to find a more environmentally friendly solution to the humidity.0 -
