Buying a House Alarm - What to look for?
Due to a recent spate of burglaries in the area, we're looking to get a decent house alarm but bit confused by the vast choice. Don't really want one that you end up having to pay a premium every month for the monitoring but happy to spend upto about £750. Do we need to spend this much though to get something decent? Any…

Sensor buttons and timing plugs?
We just bought a new tumble dryer, intending to put it on a timer plug as we have for our washing machine and run it only at night using cheaper electricity. However, when we got it we realised it has buttons which you don't push in - they have sensors that respond to the heat/moisture(?) in your hands when you touch them…

Laminate vs Wood?
What are peoples thoughts on real wood worktops? Obviously wood is more pricey but is it practical in a kitchen? I love the look of solid oak wood worktops & can some it 'cheaper' than others may pay (£200 for 3m) but am worried it will mark & stain? I understand we would have to be careful with hot pans/mop up water etc &…

Cloakroom sanitaryware - is it okay to mix and match?
We're creating a downstairs loo/cloakroom and I need to buy the sanitaryware. I've been advised in the past to buy all the same maker to avoid the ceramics being different shades of white.
