Cloakroom sanitaryware - is it okay to mix and match?

We're creating a downstairs loo/cloakroom and I need to buy the sanitaryware. I've been advised in the past to buy all the same maker to avoid the ceramics being different shades of white. Is that really the case?
I've seen a Bathstore vanity unit/basin that is small enough and a RAK toilet that I like which are within my budget but I'm now concerned that they will look wrong together.
Do any of you mix and match or is it best to stay within the same manufacturer?
Thanks!

if possible always buy matching units. its true that there are a 100 shades of white.
however, you can mix/match with care. a very small color difference will only be noticed by the anal retention types.Get some gorm.0 -
We mix and match all the time. I've never noticed a difference and I've got pretty high expectations. We had a Bathstore toilet and sink in our last house with a totally different bath and units from somewhere else again. Didn't notice any difference.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I'd forgotten about it but my bath is from a different range to the sink and toilet - as mentioned, there are different whites but if you choose carefully no-one would ever notice.0
